Het Apollohuis

Het Apollohuis was an alternative space for music and visual art in Eindhoven, the Netherlands, initiated by Remko Scha and Paul Panhuysen in 1980. Het Apollohuis showcased systematic visual art as well as the local variety of new wild painting. It promoted a particular sound art tradition which (through projects like Machine Guitars and The New Electric Chamber Music Ensemble) can be traced back to Joe Jones' Music Machines and La Monte Young's bowed cymbals. It also introduced the New York Guitar School in the Netherlands.
